Adding Some Sun

Between Pinterest, blog stalking and photographer friends, I spend a lot of time looking at pretty pictures and being inspired by editing techniques. Since it's a year ago this week that Jeff and I were married, I wanted to re-edit a few of our photos... just for fun. I've seen so many "sunny" photos lately that I wondered what some of our might look like with the same edits applied.

Here are a few before and afters.

One of Those Days

Pinned Image

Have you ever had one of those days? How about months? In the best way, it has been a busy and exciting time for us.
Most exciting things – Jeff recently started a new job as the manager of the Osage Beach Sprint store, and we celebrated our first wedding anniversary on Monday! Jeff’s new job is a total blessing. He applied about a year ago, got a call out of the blue, and while interviewing for a sales position was asked if he’d like to apply for the manager’s position. A week later he got the much anticipated call offering him the job! He's been at his store since Monday, and as I expected, is a natural.

Things at my job are busy, too. The first weekend in June we held our annual golf tournament, and it was a big success. Final numbers aren’t in yet, but it’s sure to have raised more than $100,000 to help fund a special surgical table for our orthopedic program. Also, I’m busy creating ads and publications for the large summer tourist population and for the 11 new providers that are joining the health system this year.
Also, we’ve had friends and family visiting which is always fun, and we’re still trying to squeeze in a little time on the lake now that summer is here. We both need more sleep, and we're working on that, but for now, we're keeping busy and enjoying what life is bringing us.

Annual Gala Branding

For the most part, my job consists of designing different materials that have the same look. But, sometimes I get to do a project that's different that lets me be more creative. The branding of the Lake Regional Annual Gala was the most recent of those projects.

The gala committee wanted something sophisticated, distinct and elegant. Also, it needed to have a red and black color scheme.

Here's a look at some of the pieces I created.

Fifty Shades of Grey

I know I’m probably the last woman on Earth to be reading Fifty Shades of Grey – better late than never, I guess (I’m not sure if that actually applies to scandalous romance novels or not).
I started reading it on Saturday and couldn’t put it down. It reads fast and easy, and has a tempting story line that makes you want to know more. I’m only to page 80, and I just read the first of the love scenes… it was intense, but not inappropriate. Descriptive would be a good word for it.
What I really like is that the main character, Anastasia, is funny. Her inner dialogue reminds me of ridiculous conversations with my best friends. If she was real, I think we’d get along. (Is is weird that I always make that assessment when reading books?)
Have you read it? Does it get racier than the first elevator encounter? (I’m going to guess so.) Maybe it’s a good thing Jeff is working extra hours training for his new job this week. More time for me to read!
Have you read anything good lately?
